Kaikoura, Canterbury

The Kaikoura Coast is a popular place for tourists to stop and look at the hundreds of seals bathing on the rocks. And a great place to stop for a bite of fresh seafood.

I got up early one morning while I was down south for work, and managed to capture this amazing stormy sky over the coast as the sun rose.

It was freakin amazing. It looked so amazing, that I have hardly had to edit this photo at all, it is almost straight off the camera.

I love the moody sky with the deep purple tones and hints of pink. The contour and contrast of the rocks give a ruggedness that adds to the photo and makes me fall in love with it every time I see it.
